After signing Daniel Munoz from the Belgian Pro League in January, Crystal Palace are now trying to buy another player from Belgium’s top-flight.
Dougie Freedman pulled off an unbelievably impressive deal when signing the Colombia international from Genk for just £6.9m in January.
The South American has stunned supporters with his energetic performances, popping up all over the pitch as he provided four assists in 16 Premier League appearances.
Now, Crystal
Palace hope to replicate the successful signing of Daniel Munoz with another dip into the Belgian Pro League market…
Crystal Palace want Archie Brown
A story by the Mirror now claims that Crystal Palace want to sign Gent No.3 Archie Brown.
The 22-year-old has made a name for himself in Belgium after taking the bold step of leaving Derby County for Swiss side Lausanne-Sport in 2021, before earning a move to Gent in August 2023.
It is said that Crystal Palace – and also Aston Villa – have already made contact with Gent to enquire about Brown’s situation, while West Ham have also been in touch as the Belgian giants hope to make £17m from any sale this summer.
Interestingly, the Mirror add that Lyon – owned by John Textor, of course – are also interested, so we may have to compete against the American, who has now put his 45% stage in Crystal Palace up for sale, to sign the man from Birmingham.
Brown impressed in the 2023/24 campaign, making 44 appearances in all competitions while also providing four assists from left wing-back.
Oliver Glasner seems to want Tyrick Mitchell competition
Tyrick Mitchell enjoyed a fantastic 2023/24 campaign – even winning the Holmesdale Fanatics Player of the Season award – although it seems Oliver Glasner is keen to keep the England international on his toes, with little competition currently in his position.
There is believed to be strong interest in Juventus No.11 Filip Kostic, who plays at left wing-back, according to Tutto Juve in Italy.
Now, with the Mirror claiming that Crystal Palace have made contact about another left wing-back in Brown, it would suggest Freedman has been tasked with finding backup for Mitchell this summer.
