Pirates farm report for May 30, 2024: Jack Suwinski homers, strikes out 4 times for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 24-28) was swept by Omaha (Royals) in a doubleheader.

In the first game, a 3-2 Indianapolis loss in eight innings, CF Jack Suwinski (.250) went 2 for 4 and hit his first Triple-A home run of the season. C Henry Davis (.296) went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a walk. 1B Jake Lamb (.333) was 1 for 2 with two walks. LF Matt Fraizer (.326) went 2 for 3. RHP Daulton Jefferies (7.20) started and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks in four innings. RHP Connor Sadzeck (4.05) pitched two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and fanning four. RHP Brent Honeywell (1-2, 5.18) let the automatic runner scored in the eighth to take the loss. Former Pirates RHP Colin Selby pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win for Omaha.

In the second game, a 7-1 loss, Indianapolis was held to five hits, all singles. Suwinski went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts, giving him four Ks on the day. SS Liover Peguero (.274) was 1 for 2 with two walks. Lamb went 1 for 3 with a walk and an RBI. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.250) went 2 for 3 with a run scored and threw out a runner at home. RHP Chris Gau (2-1, 6.75) started and allowed five runs on three hits and seven walks in two innings. RHP Ryder Ryan (3.72) pitched 1⅔ innings of scoreless relief.

Next: Friday vs. Omaha (Royals), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 16-32) beat Portland (Red Sox), 6-5. DH Connor Scott (.204) went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Dustin Peterson (.188) went 2 for 4 and hit the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth. RF Sammy Siani (.231) went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. RHP Thomas Harrington (2.70) started and went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, including a homer, with no walks and five strikeouts. RHP Valentin Linarez (1-2, 6.85) gave up two runs in an inning but picked up the win. RHP Jack Carey (4.05) pitched three scoreless innings, allowing no hits, to earn the save.

Next: Friday vs. Portland (Red Sox), 6 p.m.

Connor Scott | Pirates Prospects

GREENSBORO (High-A, 29-19) annihilated Asheville (Rockies), 15-2. 3B Charles McAdoo (.331) went 5 for 6 with three runs scored and an RBI. RF Luke Brown (.186) went 3 for 5 with two home runs, his third and fourth, and five RBIs. CF Lonnie White Jr. (.161) went 2 for 4, hit a grand slam, his seventh homer of the year, and drove in six. 1B Nick Cimillo (.338) went 3 for 5 with his seventh homer, three runs scored and two RBIs. 2B Termarr Johnson (.201) went 2 for 6 with two doubles and two runs scored. LHP Hunter Barco (2-1, 2.55) started and pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. LHP Luis Peralta (0.43) pitched two scoreless innings and LHP Cy Nielson (2.21) and LHP Jaden Woods (2.45) each threw a scoreless frame.
