After making good progress in a deal for Tosin Adarabioyo, Chelsea may now have been handed some more good news in the transfer market.
Enzo Maresca is inheriting a squad full of talent, and will surely be excited to work alongside talents like Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku.
Mauricio Pochettino, who was faced with an unsettling amount of new signings, has laid solid foundations for Maresca to succeed, who is inheriting a tight-knit team.
Of course, there’s still obvious areas to improve, a new goalkeeper will be required as well as a new forward.
But Maresca certainly isn’t going to be presented with a squad overhaul, and will perhaps enjoy an easier beginning than his predecessor.
Signing Tosin Adarabioyo, who chose a move to Chelsea instead of Newcastle United owing to European football, is a strong start for this new era, a player who can seemingly still take his game to the next level.
And when it comes to clever signings, Chelsea are also thought to be in the race to sign Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville.
Leeds may be forced to sell Chelsea target Crysencio Summerville before end of June
merville impressed for Leeds in the Premier League when relegated in the 2022/23 season, and took his ‘electric’ game to another level in the Championship.
As a result, The Mirror are reporting that all of Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool are interested in Summerville
And via the same report, Leeds’ current Financial Fair Play predicament could actually lead to a swift Summerville departure.
The information explains that Leeds value the Dutch youth international at £30m and could sell him before June 30 when they will have to submit their financial records.
Daniel Farke’s side’s defeat at Wembley, which saw Southampton promoted instead, has left Leeds in a precarious FFP spot, which could be solved by selling one or two of their stars.
And in a summer in which Raheem Sterling could leave Chelsea, Summerville does seem a credible replacement.
Of course, Chelsea’s main priority right now seems to be signing a ball-playing goalkeeper to ignite Maresca’s new possession-based philosophy.
And the club have recently been exploring a move for player who was actually wanted when Graham Potter was still around.
