Two players could now be sold by Crystal Palace this summer as they enter the final 12 months of their respective contracts.
Since the 2023/24 campaign ended, most of the focus at Selhurst Park has been on incomings, as Dougie Freedman works hard on deals to sign Chadi Riad and Daichi Kamada.
However – as those two signings edge closer to completion – there has now been an update on possible departures, with two players at risk of being sold…
Crystal Palace could sell Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp
A story by Alan Nixon now claims that Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp could be sold by Crystal Palace this summer – as both only have one year remaining on their contracts.
The respected journalist believes the pair of Ghana internationals may be offloaded if Freedman can secure his and Oliver Glasner’s primary targets, or else the Eagles risk losing the duo for nothing in 2025.
Selling in the current summer window would, at least, ensure Crystal Palace recoup some cash for Ayew and Schlupp – who cost £2.5m and £9m respectively – which is significant in terms of satisfying the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
While selling the duo would be a wise decision in terms of finances, it would – however – see two highly experienced players depart.
Ayew has racked up 211 appearances in total for Crystal Palace since arriving from Swansea in July 2019.
In regards to Schlupp, the Crystal Palace No.15 has amassed 231 appearances for the Eagles, ever since joining from Leicester in January 2017.
It means the pair have made a whopping 442 appearances combined for Crystal Palace.
Ruthless decisions will have to be made
While it would be sad to see Ayew and Schlupp depart – given all they have done for Crystal Palace – ruthless decisions must be made under Glasner.
