No fewer than 28 players turned out for Everton during their 45 Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup matches throughout the 2023/24 season – a reduction on the 31 used in the previous campaign (they picked 36 the year before that) – but just how did they all fare over the campaign in the ECHO’s player ratings?

Whether it was Chris Beesley or Connor O’Neill, the ECHO had a reporter at all of the Blues’ fixtures, marking each player out of 10 for their display and after extensive calculations, totting up all their scores, the final results make illuminating reading as always.

James Tarkowski was ever-present in all 45 games with Jordan Pickford playing in all the Premier League and Carabao Cup matches. At the other end of the spectrum, Lewis Warrington, Tyler Onyango and Tom Cannon – who has since been sold to Leicester City – each appeared just once and none of them were on long enough to register a mark.

Also featuring on the list are two other players who departed on transfer deadline day last summer, Alex Iwobi, who joined Fulham and Neal Maupay, who was loaned out to Brentford. There were a trio of perfect 10s handed out for Everton’s first Merseyside Derby win at Goodison Park in 13-and-a-half years for goalscorers Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin plus Pickford while the goalkeeper was given a mark of just 2 for his display in the 6-0 thrashing at Chelsea just nine days earlier when he gifted the Londoners their third goal.
