The reports have been endless. Chippa United’s Nigerian goalkeeper was initially targetted by Kaizer Chiefs, before a wave of new admirers emerged after Afcon 2023.

According to his goalkeeper caoch coach, the 28-year-old goalkeeper is in high demand.

“On physical hard copy paper, I don’t know how many offers he has received. But verbally, he has around 10 or even 12 offers,” Chippa’s goalkeeper coach Sean Louw told FARPost. “He is definitely not coming back to Chippa next season.”

“When he arrived at Chippa, he wasn’t very proficient with his footwork, unable to play from the back,” Louw added on Nwabali’s arrival from Nigeria’s Katsina United in 2022 . “However, he has improved his footwork significantly.

“I have made him understand that football is a business, and he is a brand. He is not just a player. His brand needs to extend to the other side of the world,” Louw concluded.

In the meantime, Kaizer Chiefs recently decided to exercise the contracts of the club’s exsiting goalkeepers. Both Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen sign new deals that will take them beyond the 2024/25 season.

Kaizer Chiefs are thought to be very close to announcing Nasreddine Nabi as Amakhosi’s next coach. Pitso Mosimane has meanwhile sent a comment on the reports linking him to the club.

Following the end of his term in Saudi Arabia with Abha Club, Mosimane has been back home in South Africa. Though Kaizer Chiefs are set to appoint Nabi, Mosimane remains an outside candidate until Amakhosi officially announce Nabi.

Speaking to the media this past weekend, Mosimane simply said it is not fair to put Amakhosi under pressure to appoint him.

“It is a big club, it is a big institution,” Mosimane told SABC Sport. “Everywhere I go, everybody would ask me. But, I’m a professional. I will not use that to put Kaizer Chiefs under pressure over these things. It is not fair, because we don’t know what is happening. What are they thinking and what is their vision?
