Update emerges on Norwich City man’s transfer fate amid £8m valuation

Norwich City want £8m for Adam Idah with new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup keen to look at him in pre-season amid Celtic interest, HITC Sport claims.

Norwich City sanctioned a loan move to Celtic for striker Idah in January, giving him a shot at regular minutes away from Carrow Road over the second half of the campaign.

The 23-year-old made good on his chance to impress north of the border too. After notching six goals in 28 Championship games, Idah managed nine goals and two assists in 19 outings for the Glasgow giants.

His form has seen questions of a permanent move to Parkhead inevitably arise, and the transfer window is just one day away.

Now, fresh claims over Idah’s future have emerged from HITC Sport.

They state that Norwich City8m for the Irish striker, £3m more than Celtic and could demand as much as Brendan Rodges had hoped to do a deal for. Even then though, new Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is keen to assess Idah in pre-season.

Talks are ongoing between the clubs, but the sizeable gap in valuation could be a hurdle despite Idah’s interest in a permanent move to the Scottish side.

While Idah is interested in rejoining Celtic and the club want to bring him back too, it looks as though they could be in for a wait while Norwich City decide on the striker’s transfer fate.

If Idah can catch Thorup’s eye in pre-season, it could be that they decide they want to hold onto the striker and keep him in their plans. That would deal a hefty blow to Celtic, though it remains to be seen if the Irishman’s desires come into the Canaries’ thinking.

Even if the door does open for him to move on though, the £3m difference in valuations could be an obstacle.

There have been bright signs from Idah in his time at Norwich City. He was long tipped to become a first-team player and he has now played a hefty 115 times for the club.

Many of those have been as a substitute having sat behind legendary talisman Teemu Pukki in the pecking order. There were more starting opportunities for him in the first half of the campaign but ultimately, Idah didn’t do enough to make the spot up top his own.
