Kaizer Chiefs were offered the opportunity to get one of their transfer targets, while stealing him from Orlando Pirates, but refused!
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly rejected an opportunity to sign of their alleged top transfer targets in a swap deal!
There have been numerous reports, however, that seem to suggest that Chiefs dropped their interest in Nwabali. The Chippa United goalkeeper was reportedly of interest to Amakhosi at the beginning of the season. This publication then reported that Chilli Boys goalkeeper Sean Louw said he convinced the shot stopper not to join them. Louw convinced the player to go to Afcon with Nigeria first and see what happens.

It has been largely reported that Chiefs are targeting Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, alongside arch rivals Orlando Pirates.

Taking that advice successfully, seemed to signal the end of Nwabali’s Chiefs dream. After a stellar campaign as Super Eagles, he saw his transfer price skyrocket! It was reported that Chippa Mpengesi was demanding R35 million for him. That seemed to price Amakhosi out of any possible move for the player. Pirates on the other hand, have not seemed to be deterred by the price tag. This could be because of the good relationship they share with the Eastern Cape-based side.
Now in an interesting twist, FARPost reports that Chippa had offered Chiefs a swap deal. They were willing to part ways with Nwabali for Brandon Petersen.
“The Chilli Boys reportedly made an initial offer to exchange Nwabali, another player, and cash for Petersen, but the proposal was rejected by Chiefs. Petersen has endured a difficult season at Chiefs, marred by errors that led to him losing his starting position. He lost his starting place to Bruce Bvuma midway through the season. However, despite his recent struggles, the Chilli Boys see potential in the 29-year-old shot-stopper. They believe a change of scenery could reignite his career and provide them with a reliable presence between the posts.” Wrote the publication.
This seems like something one can take with a pinch of salt. This is because, Nwabali’s value is should be at least double that of Petersen. So how can Chippa offer him to Chiefs, for their second choice keeper, while valuing him at R30-35 million?
