Orlando Pirates want to sign one of the most reliable defenders in the country but face competition from an unlikely source.
ORLANDO PIRATES CHASING MATULUDI
Thabang Matuludi made 29 league appearances for Polokwane in the 2023-2024 season, proving how consistent and reliable the 25-year-old has become. Availability is one of the most valuable traits a player can have. Unplayable on X believes Stellenbosch will compete with Pirates for Matuludi’s signature.
THE BUCCANEERS ARE BLESSED IN DEFENCE
As things stand, Jose Riveiro’s domestic cup double winners have an embarrassment of riches in central defensive areas. They’ve got Tapeolo Xoki, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Thabang Sesane and Olisa Ndah vying for two places. The potential arrival of Matuludi would add further depth and perhaps make one of the existing players’ futures more uncertain.
MOTHIBA IS TALKING TO CHIEFS
Bafana star Lebo Mothiba is no longer a Strasbourg player after his six-year stint in the Northeast of France came to an end. Soccer-Laduma believes negotiations between Mothiba’s representatives and Kaizer Chiefs are moving along nicely. Mothiba has 14 caps for South Africa and four goals, but his last appearance in national colours was in October 2023. His prolific ways could be exactly what Chiefs need; they only managed 25 league goals in 30 games last term.
The team wants experienced strikers who can work with the youth and help the team going forward. They feel Lebo (Mothiba) could be that player at the moment,” the source added.
