Sunderland’s newest (and oldest) player, Simon Moore, is happy to be on Wearside and is looking forward to being the wise head in the dressing room.

MASSIVE CLUB

“It’s fantastic. Obviously, when I first heard that Sunderland were interested I jumped at the opportunity to come to such a massive football club. It was something I just couldn’t turn down.”

“I think I’ve been part of some really successful dressing rooms over the years. I’d like to think I’ll be able to bring some of that experience to this dressing room. Obviously it’s a very young dressing room so I’ll bring the average age up a little bit, but I’m just looking forward to getting going, meeting all the lads and being able to share some of my experiences to help them and also help move the football club in the right direction.”

WORKING WITH PATTO
“I’m really looking forward to working with Patto. He’s someone I’ve watched from a distance, obviously I’ve got a keen eye for goalkeeping and he’s one who has caught my eye over the last two or three years. He’s been absolutely fantastic and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
COMPETE FOR HIS PLACE
“For myself personally, I’m going to come in and give it my absolute all. I’ll train hard every day and if the opportunity (for the number one spot) does arise then I’ll make sure I’m ready. But at the same time, I’m going to be there for Patto. With some of the experience I’ve had over the years, if there’s anything he needs I’m going to be there because we want the best for the football club. That’s the most important thing at the end of the day.”

SPEAKING TO TEAMMATES
“Even before I came here, Ben (Wilson) was talking about Sunderland all the time! He just said he has some fantastic memories here and he still loves the club. His family are local, he’s just told me nothing but good things. He spoke very highly about Mark Prudhoe, who I met earlier and seems like a top guy. He seems like a bit of a legend here so I’m looking forward to bouncing off him and learning things from him as well.”
FRESH OPPORTUNITY
“I think it’s just a fresh opportunity for myself. To do that at a football club of this magnitude is something I’m really proud to be a part of, and something I’m really looking forward to. From the outside looking in, whenever I’ve played against Sunderland it’s one of the places you look forward to coming to. The atmosphere is always fantastic and the fans are second to none. I’m just really happy to be part of that.”

“Really looking forward to it. I’ve spoken to a few people about Ally (Barcherini) the goalkeeping coach as well, again heard nothing but good things. So that’s someone I’m really looking forward to working with. Ultimately I just want to come here, give my all for the football club, help the lads go in the right direction, be there for them, and when or if I do get that opportunity then make sure I’m 100% ready for it.”
