Nasreddine Nabi confirms bad news for Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs were expected to welcome coach Nasreddine Nabi to Naturena this week, but that will no longer be the case

The new era will only begin officially when incoming coach Nasreddine Nabi arrives at Chiefs post his AS FAR commitments.

It has been the worst kept secret that Nabi will be joining Chiefs ahead of next season. Everything escalated quickly in this month of June. At the very beginning, Amakhosi managed sifted through a shortlist featuring plenty of candidates. As May ended, it was believed that three coaches had a real chance of being the next Amakhosi mentor. Pitso Mosimane, who was considered the long-term favourite, and Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos were along side Nabi for the role.

NABI WAS SUPPOSED TO JOIN CHIEFS AFTER SEMIFINAL

As soon as Chiefs made their decision to go for Nabi, they left no stone unturned. The club sent a delegate of senior official to meet the Tunisian tactician in Rabat. There they presented a vision and the prospect of the coach bringing his own technical staff over. Furthermore, they agreed terms with AS FAR for an early release of their man.

The very next week it was confirmed by Moroccan reports that Chiefs had also agreed terms with Nabi. Part of the agreement was that he would stay until after the Throne Cup semifinal against Mehgreb Fas. Now after winning that game, it seems the toned has changed.

According to SABC Sport, Nabi has confirmed that he will be staying at AS FAR until the Throne Cup Final.

CONFIRMS HE WILL NOW STAY FOR THE FINAL

“This is not my last match. The final match is still haunting us, and according to my friends in the Raja team, they know that the final match will be on the 30th of this month. Therefore, I am still continuing with my team to the final,” said Nabi.

This will be bad news for Chiefs, who started their preseason without Nabi on Monday. With the club having crucial preparations on and off the field, the new coach’s presences would be beneficial. His delay at arriving could also delay crucial decisions that need to be made ahead of the season. But all is not lost, as the coach will eventually arrive.
