Five Euro 2024 bargains Newcastle should target to save them millions
A number of players have caught the eye at EURO 2024 and Newcastle will be alert to any potential bargains
EURO 2024’s group stage has come to an end and we now know the 16 teams who will battle it out in the knockout rounds in order to be crowned the European champions.
None of the major sides have fallen at the group stage hurdle while there have been a number of surprise packages like Austria, Romania and Georgia who have punched above their weight to seal their place in the next round.
As always in major international tournaments, a number of lesser well known names have taken their opportunity to impress on the big stage and put themselves in the shop window.
Newcastle’s recruitment staff will be monitoring the tournament and, while targets for the summer would have largely been drawn up well before the finals in Germany, they will be alert to any potential gems they can pick up off the back of the tournament.
Magpies head coach Eddie Howe has spoken of the need for Newcastle to be creative in the transfer market and being alive to opportunities to sign players with lower prices and high potential.

When it comes to predictions for the EURO 2024 top goalscorer after the three group stage matches, you would have been hard pressed to find anybody, even in Georgia, who would have picked Metz forward Georges Mikautadze.
But the 23-year-old’s three goals in three games have not only inspired Georgia to reach the knockout stages of their first ever major international tournament, but it also sees him stand above the likes of Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe in the race to win the Golden Boot award.
