Newcastle make demand to Liverpool to allow Anthony Gordon’s move to Merseyside, Reds not keen on proposal

We exclusively revealed yesterday that Arne Slot’s Liverpool had made an enquiry over the availability of English winger Anthony Gordon this summer.
The Reds are understood to be looking for additions to their front line this summer with the future of Mohamed Salah unclear as there remains interest from the Saudi Pro League in the Egyptian winger.
Slot is understood to be an admirer of the English winger and it has emerged that Newcastle demanded one key player in return for the former Everton winger.
Newcastle keen on Liverpool ace in return for Gordon
HITC understands that during their conversations over Anthony Gordon – which we exclusively revealed on Friday – that Newcastle asked about Jarrell Quansah.
Last season proved to be the breakthrough campaign for the academy graduate at Anfield with the Englishman starting alongside Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of the Liverpool defence.
The Dutch defender has been the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League but sources have told HITC that Liverpool are working on a new deal for the 32-year-old defender.
As for Quansah, sources have told HITC that the Reds were not interested in losing the defender as they believe he is key for the Reds and will be a vital part of the club’s future.
Newcastle’s position on selling Gordon
Despite the English winger not starting a game yet for his national team at Euro 2024, Newcastle’s position on the former Everton ace is clear.
Lines of communication are understood to have remained open between the two parties over Gordon – but, as it stands, Newcastle are not looking at a deal – they don’t feel they will need to sell one of their big names to fit PSR as it stands.
