Kevin Thelwell could now secure Tammy Abraham transfer at Everton after Fabrizio Romano update
Everton have had a busier start to the summer transfer window than most expected, with serval players moving in and out of Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche is keen to add to his squad, particularly in the forward areas between now and the start of the Premier League season and while no deals appear imminent, a new number nine will likely be on the agenda.
Speculation continues to swirl around Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future as he enters the final year of his contract on Merseyside, with some suggesting the former England international may not pen a new deal.
If he leaves, a new striker will be a necessity for Dyche and Kevin Thelwell and one name who has been linked with a move to Goodison this summer is Roma’s Tammy Abraham who is reportedly available [Corriere Della Sera, 17 June].
Everton aren’t the only side interested in securing the former Chelsea star’s services, however, a new update from Fabrizio Romano would suggest that the door remains open for Thelwell to secure his signature.
Writing in his Daily Briefing on Sunday (30 June) Romano said: “Nothing is advanced yet on Tammy Abraham’s future, despite links with AC Milan.
“Still, I expect the former Chelsea striker to leave Roma and it could be for another club in Italy, or for a return to England. At the moment it is quiet, but for sure there will be movement.”
Will Everton sign Tammy Abraham in summer transfer window at Goodison Park?
While a move to Milan doesn’t seem to be in the offing, it does seem that the race is open for several clubs to swoop in and take him away from Roma this summer, with an exit expected.
Premier League clubs will be able to spend more freely once the PSR deadline passes and should the Toffees’ interest in Abraham be concrete, the opportunity will be there for them to bring him back to the Premier League.
Whether or not this is a deal that Thelwell and his team will pursue remains to be seen, but at this moment in time, it seems like a transfer that could be done sooner rather than later.
