Exeter City impress again in pre-season win at Yeovil Town
An early goal from Sonny Cox, as well as late strikes from teenagers Santino Ohanaka and Kieran Wilson gave City the victory – which also saw goalkeeper Joe Whitwork save a penalty
Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell was left impressed with the Grecians’ latest pre-season victory as they beat National League side Yeovil Town 3-1 on Friday night. An early goal from Sonny Cox, as well as late strikes from teenagers Santino Ohanaka and Kieran Wilson gave City the victory – which also saw goalkeeper Joe Whitwork save a penalty.
After games against Tiverton Town, Weston-super-Mare and Mousehole, the trip to Somerset to face the Glovers was a step up in quality, but City showed what they have been working on and produced a confident performance and kept their winning mentality they have been developing.
The Grecians took the lead after just four minutes at Huish Park. Josh Magennis slipped the ball through and Cox, at the ground where he spent time on loan last season, made no mistake with the finish as he nestled it under the keeper to make it 1-0.

Ilmari Niskanen and Magennis missed chances to double the lead before the break, the Finn volleying over when it looked easier to score, before Reece Cole, making his first appearance of pre-season, could only see a strike saved by Ollie Wright.
City made three changes at the break with Cole, Jack Aitchison and Ed Francis coming off as they continued their pre-season programmes. Ryan Woods saw a curling effort saved before Jack McMillan saw a header cannon back off the crossbar.
In the 72 nd minute though, City doubled their lead. Substitute Ohanaka danced his way in the Yeovil area before being brought down. The 17-year-old dusted himself down and smashed the penalty into the top corner.
