According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle United have included Thomas Frank on their shortlist of targets to replace England-linked Eddie Howe. The Brentford manager has been a tremendous performer over the years in the Premier League, and the Magpies are not planning to block Howe’s potential exit from the club. Newcastle United entered the summer window with the clear intention of continuing their project with Eddie Howe at the helm. However, Gareth Southgate’s decision to quit his post as England manager after their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain may bring some change to the Magpies’ plans, as Howe is being heavily linked with the England job.
England have a few notable candidates, such as Howe and Graham Potter, with the former considered a slight favourite to succeed Southgate. The Newcastle United boss is reportedly considering the chance to take over as England boss, and should that happen, the Magpies might have to plan for his succession.
In the meantime, Newcastle United are drawing up their own shortlist to replace Howe should he depart. Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Brentford’s Thomas Frank are high on their list, although the former only signed a new deal with the newly-promoted Premier League side, which would put the 50-year-old Premier League manager of Brentford high on their list.
