Stockport County are set to continue their summer recruitment, with their eyes now reportedly turned to a current Premier League defender, although they face fellow League One competition.

Following their League Two title triumph last season, Stockport County have wasted no time in preparing their squad ahead of the new campaign, with the likes of Lewis Bate, Jay Mingi and Michael Mellon arriving.

However, the club have now turned their attention to another potential new recruit but faces strong competition to complete a deal for his services.

According to a report from News Online, Stockport County are one of three sides interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Tayo Adaramola on a season-long loan deal.

The U21s defender has also captured the attention of fellow League One side Wigan Athletic as well as Italian second-tier side Pisa, ahead of a potential summer exit.

Over the last few seasons, Stockport County have successfully managed to improve a series of Premier League loanees including Aston Villa duo Rico Richards and Louie Barry, which will be appealing to someone like Adaramola.

City, with Adaramola playing just 45 minutes before being substituted and was recalled shortly after.

Therefore, the 20-year-old needs a club where he will receive a lot of game time, to prove that he does have what it takes to succeed in the EFL and Stockport’s history with young players could make this an ideal transfer for Adaramola.

League One side Wigan Athletic want to sign Crystal Palace defender Tayo Adaramola on loan, the South London Press understands.

The Latics have shown interest before in taking the 20-year-old loan and have reignited their interest this summer.

League One rivals Stockport and Italian Serie B side Pisa are also keen on the left-back.

Adaramola spent the second half of last season on loan with Belgian side RWD Molenbeek, who were relegated from the Belgian Pro League.

He made 14 appearances for Palace’s sister club but picked up an injury and missed the last game of the season.
