Manchester City Have Joined The Race To Sign This Crystal Palace Ace: Good Fit For Pep?
Manchester City are considering a move for £68million Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze.
Pep Guardiola’s serial title winners are weighing up their options with Saudi side Al-Ittihad dangling a lucrative contract in front of 33-year-old Kevin de Bruyne. Impressive Eze, 26, has attracted the interest of Tottenham who are looking for more quality between the lines.
But, should City follow up their interest, the north Londoners would be powerless to prevent the player succumbing to the lure of the Etihad. City have a long-standing admiration for Eze, one of the biggest talents in the Premier League outside the top four. He has three years left on his contract at Palace and a release clause of £60m plus add-ons.
The south London club will not allow him to leave for any less. Especially after losing another of their rising stars, Michael Olise, to Bayern Munich. The defending champions are particularly impressed by his low maintenance temperament and his versatility, as he can play in a number of positions.
Last season he was outstanding for Palace, despite having his campaign interrupted by injury. He scored 11 times and provided four assists to lift Oliver Glasner’s side into a tenth-place finish in the Premier League.
De Bruyne is expected to agree a deal with Al-Ittihad. The Pro League club have recently appointed Frenchman Laurent Blanc as their new boss and boast a number of big names already, including Fabinho and Karim Benzema. After 382 appearances, 102 goals, 170 assists and 15 trophies for City, De Bruyne has admitted a big money deal in Saudi Arabia would be hard to turn down as his career winds down.
He told Het Laatste Nieuws last month: “I still have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen. My eldest is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.
