The Latics were believed to have made Crystal Palace full-back Tayo Adaramola a target this summer after the player impressed on loan at Belgian second-tier side RWD Molenbeek. However, the club is set to be beaten to the deal by third-tier rivals Stockport County.

Brack’s report claims the Hatters have been chosen as the preferred destination by Crystal Palace with the club’s track record for developing loanees likely playing a part. Aston Villa youngsters Louie Barry and Rico Richard enjoyed spells on loan last season.

Those signings put Shaun Maloney’s side in a good position ahead of the League One opening weekend fixture against Charlton Athletic. The Addicks will travel to the Brick Community Stadium for a 5:30 pm kick-off on August 10.
