Sunderland are competing for the signature of Daniel Jebbison from Bournemouth this summer.

According to HITC, the Black Cats are eyeing a move to bring the forward to the Stadium of Light on loan for the season ahead.

Jebbison signed for the Cherries earlier this window following his departure from Sheffield United as a free agent, but could move back down to the Championship in order to receive regular game time.

The forward struggled with an injury issue last year that prevented him from playing for most of the campaign, featuring just once for the Blades in the Premier League (stats from Fbref).

The 20-year-old has previously featured 24 times in the second division, including six starts, during his time at Bramall Lane.

But Sunderland reportedly face from Leeds United in the race for Jebbison’s signature.

Jebbison has had a very difficult last 12 months, which makes it hard to judge what the next step in his career should be.

A move down the football pyramid makes sense, as he definitely needs to be prioritising regular game time and he won’t get that at Bournemouth this season.

Sunderland certainly need to bolster their attacking options, as it was an area that really cost them over the last year.

The Black Cats should be targeting someone a bit more proven than Jebbison, as they need a striker that can guarantee them regular goals.

While there is no doubt that the 20-year-old has talent, and bundles of potential, the Wearisde outfit already have three players that fit that description for their forward line.

As a loan signing, it wouldn’t be the worst signing Sunderland could make, but it would be quite concerning if it was the only improvement they sought for their attacking options.
