Here at Tamworth, the welfare of our players is paramount – both on a sporting and human level. It’s the job of the club’s therapist and strength andconditioning coaches to assess, treat and rehabilitate injured players, and they also play a key role in player education, injury prevention and deciding when individuals should return to action.

We recently caught up with Bethany Willment, who has joined the Lambs as our new First Team Lead Therapist after impressing everyone at the club, in particular First Team Manager Andy Peaks. “The club has been welcomed me with open arms,” she says about her short time in Staffordshire so far. “I am very grateful. Coming into a club that has been successful, gaining promotion, winning the league, sometimes can be a bit daunting. “But everyone has been super supportive and super responsive to what I’ve been putting in place and what I’ve been doing as a new therapist, so that’s great.”

Beth has also commented on the appointment of Alex Howell, who has joined the Lambs as our First Team Strength and Conditioning Coach. “Having Alex by my side is amazing as he is very knowledgeable.”

Beth studied Sports Therapy at Plymouth Marjo University, graduating in 2020, and has built up plenty of experience over the past four years, working as Lead Therapist for professional basketball side Plymouth City Patriots, while also teaming up with other local sports clubs, including EFL Championship side Plymouth Argyle and Plymouth Diving Club. During her time on the south coast, Beth became good friends with our First Team Coach and recently appointed Academy Manager Tim Dudding, and their link eventually led to her being offered a trial and then a role with the Lambs.

Beth initially wanted to move to the Midlands to “gain more opportunities” and went onto work as a Sports Therapy Technical Demonstrator at the University of Worcester, where she still hosts student and placement events. She is also currently working alongside the university to gain qualifications as she plans a future career in Higher Education.

Due to her many commitments, Beth will be solely focused on our First Team, working alongside the squad before, during and after training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on matchdays.
