Stan Collymore says Aston Villa have pulled off a ‘really good bit of business’ Leander Dendoncker told to quit Aston Villa after new summer transfer developments
Alan Hutton has told Leander Dendoncker his “best option” would be to leave Aston Villa after new transfer developments at Villa Park.
The Belgian midfielder has played a part in the Villans’ pre-season fixtures this summer after Napoli decided against activating the option to make his stay permanent at the end of his loan spell last season.
Unai Emery has actively looked to strengthen his midfield options having lost Douglas Luiz to Juventus in the transfer window, with Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley and Enzo Barrenechea all arriving in the Midlands.
Although Hutton believes the 29-year-old will not be “cast aside” in the coming weeks, he believes a move away would still be best for Dendoncker because he has fallen down Emery’s pecking order.
“I still feel his best option would be to move on,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.“With the options that Emery has got when everybody is fit, he will probably be further down the pecking order.
“I think it’s right for every player to get the same amount of game time at this point of pre-season because everyone is trying to get fit, everybody is trying to get to their maximum.
“I like the fact that he’s been involved and he will be ready to move to a club because he’s had a proper pre-season.
“I just feel with the options that they have at the moment and the boys that they’ve brought in, the three midfielders already, I think he’ll be down the pecking order.”
