However, the Sky Blues boss says there needs to be a balance between showing off their technical ability and ‘showboating’ as City look to push for promotion to the Premier League.

The club boast a number of technically gifted players in their ranks with Kasey Palmer one of the more talented players with the ball at his feet. Japanese winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is another who likes to tease defenders by chopping one way, then the other and back again before getting his delivery into the box, while new signings Ephron Mason-Clark, Jack Rudoni as well as pacy forward Fabio Tavares have similar silky skills in the final third.

City created a stack of chances against their League One opponents in Tuesday night’s 3-1 pre-season friendly win at the Lamex Stadium where the new-look group certainly appeared to be enjoying their football.

I just said to them there that I love it, and I don’t want to dampen that down but I don’t want too much showboating either with the way that they play,” said Robins.

“But if they play like that and create chances like that then I think our crowd are going to love it this season.”

The fans that made the near two hour trip certainly enjoyed seeing Sakamoto back in action for the first time after recovering from a back injury.
