Returning to Oxford United Football Club for my 7th season.

Al-Hamadi features: 2 Oxford United deals that will push August 30th transfer deadline Oxford United will be hoping they can get as much of their transfer business done as possible before the Championship season begins.

The U’s have been very busy already in the early weeks of this transfer window, with them bringing in nine new players.

Des Buckingham is likely going to want more new players as he tries to get his club in a strong position to attack the Championship campaign.

However, like most clubs, they will not be able to get all their business done before the season begins.

With that said, here we have looked at two Oxford United deals that will push the August 30th transfer deadline…

Oxford United travel to Mansfield Town for a friendly clash this weekend.

The Yellows are preparing for life in the second tier of English football for the first time since 1999 following the club’s promotion in May.

Victory over Bolton Wanderers at Wembley means that United are now looking towards Championship fixtures next month.

As part of their preparations, the Yellows have organised a number of friendly matches which have featured a 3-0 win over local rivals Oxford City and the same result against Solihull Moors the day after.

United will now take on Mansfield Town away today as the squad continues to sharpen up before the new season commences.

The two sides have not played each other since 2016 with the Yellows being promoted from League One last campaign while Town were promoted into the division from League Two.

For the final 20 or so minutes of Bolton Wanderers’ 2-0 defeat against Oxford United in the League One play-off final at Wembley Stadium in mid-May, the Trotters’ manager, Ian Evatt, did something he never did last season and decided to tweak his system.

Off came Player of the Year Josh Sheehan and top scorer Dion Charles as Wanderers switched from a flat 3-5-2 to a 3-4-1-2, with Aaron Collins dropping into a deeper number ten role.

Matchday Memories: On This Pre Season Day 2003 – Sky Blues Win Cup In Oxford Marathon!

On this day (July 26th) in pre-season 2003, back from a four game tour of Germany with mixed results, the Sky Blues took on Oxford United in their pre-season schedule.

The game was billed as the Billy Halsey Memorial Cup (which the Oxfordshire FA apparently had awarded annually since 1904) and Gary McAllister’s men, with Gary playing from the start, went on to take the trophy 9-8 on penalties after a scoreless draw at full time and no less than 22 penalty takers!!
