The Adam Idah to Celtic story isn’t going to go away this summer, not until there’s definitive word on where he’ll be playing this season or the transfer window shuts.
Back at Norwich City and involved in their pre-season preparations, the striker continues to be a name at the front of many Celtic supporters’ minds.
His nine goals on loan last season made a strong impression on fans, teammates and manager Brendan Rodgers, who made it perfectly clear that he wanted to sign the Republic of Ireland international permanently.
Celtic are said to have been in discussions with the Canaries for his signature, who value him at a higher price than what the Scottish champions have been prepared to offer so far.
Every move and event surrounding Idah is being scrutinised – and he likely knows that. So his love heart emoji message to Celtic after the Bhoys thumped Chelsea captured the attention of plenty of fans online, already garnering thousands of likes.
Curiously, Idah’s Instagram still has him decked out in Celtic colours on his profile picture and posts despite making that return to Norwich – it’s clear that he very much values his short stint at the Bhoys.
That ties in with reports which indicate that he’s told the English club he would prefer a move back to Celtic.
After selling South Korean star Hyeongyu Oh to Genk, Celtic only have one recognised central striker in Kyogo Furuhashi.
Admittedly he is in the lightning form during pre-season with six goals in five matches but if he should pick up a knock or injury concern then the Bhoys are looking light in the position.
Daizen Maeda and Mikey Johnston can fill in if that happens but Rodgers needs another quality option to mix things up and Idah fits the bill.
The Celtic team will now head back to Scotland full of confidence ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season and the fans are buzzing after watching Brendan Rodgers’ side score 12 goals and concede just four in the tour.
Now that Celtic have faced and taken care of two of the top teams in the English Premier League, it was the performance of Kasper Schmeichel that had the Celtic fans purring and had them comparing the big Dane to treble-winning, Joe Hart.
