Luton Town welcome Burnley to Kenilworth Road on Monday night as we begin our 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship campaign, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

31-year-old goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski believes this is the perfect chance to get off to a good start by playing opposition that have also dropped down from the Premier League.

Kaminski has been positive about pre-season and the newly formed backline that will be in-front of him this season.

“It has been a very short pre-season for me,” said the Luton shot stopper. “We knew that from the start that if Belgium got to the next round at Euro 2024 then we would hardly get a holiday, it is what it is. I’m happy to be back training and happy that the season starts soon. It’s been tough, to be honest, it’s been difficult physically as pre-season usually is, we knew that from last season.

“That’s the way we want to go to and the way we want to play, and we have to train like we want to play.

“The new lads are exciting players. Reu is still a bit younger, but he’s done well I think and he’s showing us that he’s got a lot of quality and the same with Shandon. He’s a top player in his position and he’s someone we can definitely use in the team.I like to support the defence in every way but it’s not like I’ll give more attention to them than the other boys.”

The Town faced Burnley twice last year, but the Belgian believes that this game is still a Premier League calibre fixture.

“I think it’s going to be a tough game, I think they will also remember last season when we played them but it’s going to be a tough test.

“It’s basically still a Premier League team because they haven’t really lost any players, it’s a big test for us, it’s going to be a challenge but it’s a good game to start with. It’s the best really for us, it’s our home, we were well supported last season, well supported at away games, home games and it’s always a plus to play at home on your first game.”
