The 25-year-old is set to join the Bees on an initial season-long loan deal, with an obligation to buy him for around £10million next summer.
Following his medical at the club’s training ground, the Sweden international will complete the formalities of the deal and put pen to paper.
Brentford are hopeful of finalising the deal for Cajuste alongside the permanent arrival of Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho in the coming days.
This comes after the West London club reached an agreement worth £27.5million to sign Carvalho after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City.
Cajuste joined Napoli from French outfit Stade Reims just one year ago in a deal worth over £10million, and are set to break even on his sale to Brentford.
Cajuste is a product of the FC Midtjylland Academy – a club that has retained its strong link with Brentford thanks to Matthew Benham and Thomas Frank.
As a result, he has been on the club’s radar for several seasons and they have kept a close eye on his development, with his availability giving them the chance to swoop.
Cajuste will be the second summer signing at Brentford, following Brazilian centre-forward Igor Thiago to the club as they look for a busy end to the window.
Brentford are now pushing to complete this deal alongside Carvalho’s with time to integrate the players into training ahead of the opening Premier League fixture on 18 August.
In other news, Celtic are set to accept a £25million bid for Matt O’Riley before 31 August.
