Rob Edwards feels that the squad is in the right mindset ahead of our opening game of the Sky Bet Championship season.
The Hatters face Burnley at Kenilworth Road on Monday night as hopes are to get all three points under the lights.
Edwards has praised the squad’s reaction to last season’s relegation but feels it has just motivated the team more to bounce straight back.
“There’s been a very good focus,” said the boss. “A desire, the right things have been said about what we want to try and achieve this year, while all the time respecting the league and the opposition team because we know that they’re good competition.
“We know how hard it is to get out of this league, but we’re certainly in a better place this time to do it than we were last time, and we were able to do it before, and that has to be our aim.
“We’ll give it our best to try and get back there, that’s all I want to do, we loved it, brilliant experience, we all got better for the experience of last year, so let’s take those experiences into this year and try our best to achieve something really special again, as it will be special, no doubt about it.”
The gaffer also shared his thoughts on his opposite number in the other dugout, with Scott Parker taking over from Vincent Kompany in the managerial role for the Clarets.
“We’ve played them a lot in the last couple of seasons, Scott knows the Championship very well and knows the Premier League very well, especially as a player but he’s had big success as a manager in this league, so I expect them to be very strong.
“I think that’s good for us and they’ll probably see it in the same way as well, it’s not going to be difficult to get up for this game.
“There can’t be anyone downbeat about getting relegated or anything like that, this is a really big game, Monday night, Sky TV are here, in front of the cameras, it’s almost like last season anyway and what we were experiencing, it’s got to bring out the best in us.”
