Wolves are reportedly looking at Brentford’s Yoane Wissa as a potential replacement for Pedro Neto

According to the Telegraph, talks between Wolves and the Bees are ongoing about a potential transfer. Wissa is on a shortlist that Wolves are drawing up as they prepare for the final two weeks of the summer transfer window. A transfer fee hasn’t been mentioned by Mike McGrath, the journalist that broke the news, but Wolves do have the financial firepower after the £54m sale of Pedro Neto to Chelsea.

Wissa is a versatile attacker that is capable of playing anywhere across the front line. The 27-year-old was entrusted to lead the line last for Thomas Frank’s men season and got 12 goals in 34 Premier League games for the West London outfit.

Wissa, a 27-cap DR Congo international, has made 110 appearances to date for Brentford, and has a record of 29 goals and eight assists. If Wolves did make an approach for Wissa, then he would have stiff competition for a starting spot, thankfully there are no Africa Cup of Nations this season, and so he wouldn’t miss any games because of international duty.

Toney has been one of Brentford’s best performers since joining the club from Peterborough United in 2020, and these performances have led to the striker becoming a target for the Premier League’s richer clubs. Arsenal and Chelsea FC have been consistently linked to the forward, while Manchester United have also been rumoured to be interested.

With only one year left on his contract, Brentford would be willing to sell Toney this summer and according to the English media have dropped their price tag from £60 million to £30 million.
