Dorset Police officers reprimanded for Bournemouth pitch invasion - BBC News

ANDONI Iraola says a decision on whether Daniel Jebbison will leave Cherries on loan has been “delayed” due to a lack of current striker options.

When former Sheffield United frontman Jebbison joined the Dorset club this summer, it was widely expected he would head out to get regular game-time elsewhere this term.

The 21-year-old missed almost all of last season due to injury and has made just 60 appearances in senior football during his career, for the Blades, Burton Albion and Chorley.

With Enes Unal out injured, Dominic Solanke sold and Daniel Adu-Adjei loaned out, Jebbison is the club’s only available senior striker heading into the first game of the Premier League season at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

He has featured in all four of Cherries’ official pre-season matches this summer, scoring the winning goal in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Girona.

Asked what he has made of Jebbison since his arrival, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think he has been very good in pre-season.

“Probably it is a signing the club does more thinking on the future, because he hasn’t had a lot of professional games, because he is very young.

“But now, especially with the Enes situation and Dom, I think it is a situation we have to analyse, because a loan was an option and probably was the first idea. Now we have to at least delay the decision and see what we decide in one or two weeks.”

The transfer window closes on Friday, August 30, with a host of Championship clubs said to be interested in signing Jebbison on loan.Cherries are on the hunt for a new striker, with Evanilson and Eddie Nketiah on their list.

Although he has racked up 168 appearances for the first-team since making his debut in the 2017/18 season as an 18-year-old, the forward has never really been a regular at the north London outfit.

The one-time England international has made just 70 starts in total for Arsenal and this summer appears to be the closest he has been to an Emirates exit.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, Fulham, and West Ham, while Marseille pulled out of a transfer earlier this month, despite agreeing personal terms with Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
