Jamie Carragher reacts to West Ham United transfers, predicts score v Aston Villa
Jamie Carragher has predicted that West Ham will draw 1-1 with Aston Villa in their opening Premier League game.
Julen Lopetegui is preparing for his debut clash as head coach of the Hammers, welcoming Unai Emery’s side to the London Stadium on Saturday (17 August).
Former Liverpool defender Carragher has now offered his prediction for the game to Sky Sports on 14 August suggesting a score draw is on the cards.
Discussing his reasoning, he told Super Six: “West Ham have had a really good transfer window so far and will really push for the European places, but I think this will finish 1-1.

Fans of the Irons are about as excited as they could be for the season ahead based on the transfer business that has been completed so far.
There is added pressure on the new West Ham signings as they really need to gel together quickly before pressure builds on them.
Building an almost entirely new defensive line, with Max Kilman and Jean Clair-Todibo, is certainly going to generate interest as to whether or not the back four can work together.
They will be concerned to see the likes of Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey line up against them after a terrific season last time out.
With that being said, a draw would be a positive start and a good base that Julen Lopetegui can build from.
