Tonight’s Cardiff City news as target left out of squad and future to be resolved this week
target Jackson Muleka was left out of Besiktas’ squad in their 4-2 win over Antalyaspor last night owing to the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.
Cardiff are working hard to get a striker in as soon as possible following long-term injuries to both Isaak Davies and Kion Etete and have placed Congolese forward Muleka on their shortlist.
However, he has a number of admirers and Cardiff will have to outmuscle clubs from Russia, Saudi Arabia and Europe if they are to win the race for his signature. Indeed, reports in Turkey today claim Saudi club Al-Kholood have tabled a concrete offer, which is yet to be accepted, with the player’s future set to be decided this week.
Cardiff derby hero Michael Chopra has said he will be in the away end at the Swansea.com Stadium this Sunday.
The former Bluebirds striker, who scored an iconic winner against the Swans back in the 2-1 win in 2010 — during which he also scored Cardiff’s first — and is a cherished memory for so many City fans.
And if Cardiff needed an extra added element of motivation, it might just come in the form of one of the club’s legendary figures cheering them on from the away end on Sunday afternoon.
“We’ve trained really well over the last couple of weeks. We got the result we wanted last weekend, and it showed again this week how hard we’ve worked. Individually, I thought I played well today, and it was really nice to top it off with a goal, and I’m hoping I can score a few more this season.
“Coming in towards the end of last season really helped me to understand the physicality and the pace of U18s football. Now this season, I can really push hard and try to stand out more.
“It’s really important for us to stay humble as a group and not underestimate any team. You never know what’s going to happen at this level, but if we can carry on this run, we’ll be ready for anything.”
