Harvey had fielded a youthful squad with Gray, 14-year-old Alex Godfrey and Kai Rhodes named in the starting XI, whilst Alfie Jones, Carter Heywood, Bobo Evans, Kaven Bloniarczyk and Elis Thomas made up the bench.

“I think last week’s performance was one where we really had to dig deep and work hard, and I think the confidence we had from last week did show,” said Harvey.

“In the first 35 minutes of the first half, I thought we played brilliantly and got two good goals.

“I thought the application was great, we looked confident with the ball and with a team of such mixed ages, that’s a real bonus.

Peterborough United can beat anyone if the replicate their second half performance, insists Darren Ferguson as play-off opponents and schedule confirmed

“There were a lot of solid individual performances, but overall it was the team who fought back.

“We knew Peterborough would come out quickly in the second half, and ultimately they did. That early goal from them stopped our momentum.

“We did concede more than we would have liked, but we could have also scored more when we were in the final third. I also think Sam Seager did brilliantly in goal for us.”
