MLB strikeout props for Tue. 8/20: Fade this pitcher vs. KC
We went 1-2 in strikeout props on Monday to kick off the week, but at least our one winner was a +120 price to minimize the damage. Let’s bounce back with our three favorite K props for Tuesday’s loaded MLB slate.
This line is so low because Lopez might be on a pitch count in his first start since coming off the injured list, but he can still reach five strikeouts in this matchup. In 82 combined plate appearances against the right-hander, current Philadelphia Phillies hitters are batting just .240 with a 25.6 percent strikeout rate. Lopez went over 4.5 Ks in eight of his nine starts before injuring his arm, and the only time he fell short came against a San Diego Padres lineup that strikes out at the lowest strikeout rate in MLB.
Ragans has been one of the best strikeout artists in MLB this season, as he ranks in the 92nd percentile in whiff rate (32.4 percent) and the 88th percentile in strikeout rate (28.9 percent). The left-hander has cleared this line in 16 of his 25 starts this season, and he couldn’t ask for a better matchup here. The Los Angeles Angels have an abysmal 44.2 percent K rate against southpaws over the last week, which is by far the worst mark in the league. Ragans could flirt with double-digit strikeouts in this one.
