Ange Postecoglou could consider three Tottenham changes vs Everton as Archie Gray decision looms
Tottenham will be looking to put things right on Saturday afternoon when they return to Premier League action against Everton. Starting the 2024/25 season at Leicester City on Monday evening, Spurs couldn’t claim all three points after Jamie Vardy netted just prior to the hour mark to cancel out Pedro Porro’s opener.
It really was a game Tottenham should have won as they were in total control for large parts of the contest and they created a number of chances over the course of the 90 minutes. Very much a familiar story to last season with the team passing up excellent chances time and time again in games and not recording maximum points in the process, Ange Postecoglou will have his fingers crossed that everything clicks together and Everton are duly punished.
Following Tottenham’s transfer activity in the summer market, the head coach now has a number of options to choose from in terms of his squad and a handful of players unfortunately missed out altogether for the Leicester game. So are there any changes that Postecoglou could make for Saturday’s game against Sean Dyche’s men? football.london takes a look below.
Postecoglou will provide the latest on the injury front when he speaks to the media on Friday and the hope will be that there are no issues with Porro, who was wincing in the dugout after his substitution, and he can start once again. If he is to miss out, however, Spence will be the man to replace him.
Amid the concerns over him, the Uruguayan eventually sat up and put himself on the stretcher as he made his way off the field. Tottenham made a concussion substitution to replace Bentancur with Archie Gray for the closing minutes of the contest.
Gray could now be the one to profit due to the injury Bentancur sustained. The summer signing made a huge impression in pre-season and Postecoglou will have no issues with throwing the youngster in for his Premier League debut as he is an extremely talented player.
The other option open to Postecoglou is to immediately bring Yves Bissouma back into the team after the club elected to suspend him for the Leicester match after posting footage on social media of himself inhaling laughing gas. Bissouma quite clearly has to rebuild the trust of Postecoglou and his teammates after letting them down, thus meaning he may have to contend with minutes here and there for now until he gets to start a game for Tottenham once again.
