The Tractor Boys’ Marcus Bent gave the hosts the lead on seventeen minutes with a twenty yarder capitalising on a mistake from Sky Blue defender (and now CCFPA member) Steve Staunton.  The Sky Blues‘ Michael Doyle got right up the nose of the home team’s ‘gaffer’ Joe Royle who wanted to see our combative midfielder sent off for a flailing elbow before ‘Doyler’ doubled down to fire in an excellent Sky Blues’ equaliser for the visitors level fourteen minutes later to end CCFC’s 615 minute goal drought (this and last season)!

The goal made both the half-time and full-time scores a 1-1 stalemate meaning CCFC had produced a brace of draws from their opening two matches (they had previously got a goalless draw against Walsall at Highfield Road)!
