Tottenham take on Everton today as they look to register their first Premier League win of the season.
Spurs threw it away against Leicester last week and ended up coming away from the Midlands with just a point to show for their efforts.
Nevertheless, a home clash with Everton – who were hammered by Brighton – is a chance to put things right.
Of course, there is an issue for Spurs and manager Ange Postecoglou in that they are already without new £65m striker, Dominic Solanke.
And with Richarlison struggling to be 100% fit, Postecoglou has suggested he could turn to Dejan Kulusevski as a number nine.
Speaking about the potential to use Kulusevksi in a more advanced role as a number nine, Postecoglou suggested he could use ‘Deki’ as a striker, albeit he’s not sure it’s his best position.
“It’s an option,” Postecoglou quipped.
“I don’t think it’s his best area but through pre-season and at least one game at the end of last season, he’s such a hard worker, he runs the line really well, can link up with the rest of the team in the build-up.
“I think he can do a job for us there, but I don’t think it’s his best position,” he said.
Spurs paid £29m to sign Kulusevski and he has predominantly been used as a right winger during his time at the club.
He was used up top in pre-season, and Lucas Bergvall has spoken of just how impressive Kulusevski has been since he arrived.
As Ange mentions here, the speed and willingness of Kulusevski to run and work defenders means that he isn’t the worst option up top.
Yes, Richarlison being fit would be ideal while Solanke is out.
But if needed, Kulusevski can do the business and he’ll give Everton’s defenders something different to think about today.
