That’s the verdict of boss Mark Robins, whose Sky Blues side felt the benefits of the winger’s qualities from the bench as they rescued a point in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City.

Mason-Clark, a January addition from Peterborough United, finally hooked up with his new teammates this summer having spent the second half of last season remaining at League One play-off competitors Posh. His excellent stats in front of goal earned him a nomination for the division’s player of the year award and a place in League One’s Team of the Year, but now he’s strengthening City’s charge.

Here, he came off the bench and played an important role in helping to create Kasey Palmer’s equaliser, but it was his all-round game which caught the eye, his physical attributes and turn of pace which presented a fresh test for Bristol City left-back Cam Pring. Robins has been impressed and knows there’s more to come.

“He’s definitely got the power,” Robins said of EMC. “He’s still learning the game at this level and he’s getting himself into the zone, but he certainly made a difference for us on the day, and we didn’t get enough from the players who started up to that point. Like I say, it’s there for everybody to see and try and impact things in order to start the next game.
