Luton Town midfielder Allan Campbell has agreed a deal to join Charlton Athletic on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
Campbell, 26, has passed a medical at Chalrton’s training ground and has agreed terms on a season-long loan move to the South London club.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at Millwall following Luton’s promotion to the Premier League, and is not a part of Rob Edwards’ plans for this year.
Charlton boss Nathan Jones is a big fan of Campbell after working with him during his time at Luton, and has been pushing for a reunion.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that clubs across England and Scotland, including Aberdeen and Hibernian, were plotting moves for his signature.
Campbell joined Luton from Motherwell for a small fee when his contract was set to expire in 2021, and played a key role in their promotion season in 2022-23.
However, upon their promotion to the Premier League, the Hatters decided he no longer had a part to play, signing Ross Barkley and Albert Sambi Lokonga in his place.
Despite both midfielders now having moved on from Kenilworth Road after their relegation, the signings of Shandon Baptiste, Liam Walsh and Tom Krauss have pushed him back down the pecking order.
Jones’ side finished 16th last time out, and have targeted Campbell as a pivotal target to increase their chances of pushing up the table.
After winning all three of their opening three games this season, the Addicks have early hopes for an outside shot at the playoffs and remain keen to bolster their squad.
