West Ham United could pay Kurt Zouma a one-off £2.2million bonus to terminate his contract ahead of a move to Al-Orobah, according to Sean Whetstone.
The Hammers insider reported via his X account that the Irons are subsidising half of his remaining £4.4million wages as part of the deal, with a medical set for 28 August.
His new club, Al-Orobah will pay the remaining half as part of the deal with a one-off payment from the Hammers or a standard loan move until the end of his contract.
Since Julen Lopetegui took over from David Moyes at the end of last season, there has been plenty of change afoot at the club.
The Hammers managed to finish in a respectable ninth place last term but had one of the worst defensive records in the league.
Moyes’ men had the fourth-worst record with only the three relegated teams conceding more goals than the Londoners.
Not only does this outline where their main problem lay but it also shows how much stronger the club could be if their defence was strengthened.
And, since the transfer window opened, that’s what Julen Lopetegui has done. Max Kilman was the first defensive reinforcement to arrive with the likes of Jean Clair-Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka also being added to his ranks.
While the additions of Wan-Bissaka and Kilman might not seem too enthralling, from just the first couple of games we’ve seen the Hammers play, their defensive line already looks more solid.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have made a £16.6million bid for Richard Rios.
