Orlando Pirates star striker attracts interest from a North African club, but the Bucs are not ready to lose two forwards at the same time.
Orlando Pirates star striker draws interest from North African club, according to Soccer Laduma.
Pirates forward Tshegofatso Mabasa, previously linked with moves to Romania and Mamelodi Sundowns because of previous coach Rulani Mokwena. Now attracts serious interest from a North African club. Sources close to Mabasa and the Pirates reveal that this club has been tracking Mabasa’s performance and is poised to make an offer.
The North African club’s officials recently observed Mabasa in action against Disciples FC during the CAF Champions League second leg at Orlando Stadium. “They have been looking at his progress for some time now.
They have been monitoring him and his performance and they are happy about it,” said the source. “It’s a team from North Africa. We can’t say the name right now because it could disturb the process and interest.”
Despite the growing interest, the source emphasised that the club has not made a formal offer yet. “But the club had expressed their happiness and desire to have him. But for now, we can say it’s just interest and nothing much,” the source added.
Orlando Pirates not ready to release Mabasa
Another insider shared that despite the North African club’s interest and recent scouting efforts in South Africa, Orlando Pirates is not prepared to let Mabasa leave at this time. “Interest or no interest, the club doesn’t want to let him go at this point. He is their main striker, and losing him could disrupt the team significantly,” the insider stated. “Maybe next season or at the most in January. Mind you, there is also interest in Evidence Makgopa. Opening the door for both of them wouldn’t be fair or beneficial for the team.”
