Todd Cantwell Rangers transfer fee impacted by Norwich City sell on as Blackburn Rovers near deal
The wantaway midfielder is closing in on his move to Blackburn Rovers this summer
Football Scotland understands Norwich City also had inserted a sell-on clause in their initial deal to sell the Englishman to the Ibrox club but the percentage depended on his achievements in Glasgow.
Todd Cantwell’s move to Blackburn Rovers is close to being finalised this week – but the fee Rangers are set to net is reportedly a cut-price one.
The midfielder is closing in on a move to Ewood having slapped in a transfer request to manager Philippe Clement following a meeting with the boss earlier this summer. A move to Rovers has been bubbling in the background for weeks but it’s believed the Light Blues may have to pay towards the player’s wage packet after he departs.
That means the Canaries will see a small cut of the deal. Football Scotland also understands the financial package is worth more than the reported £600,000 but is unlikely to clear £1million.
It comes as the Light Blues are looking to bring in number 10 Nedim Bajrami from Sassuolo to replace their wantaway star who told his manager he no longer wanted to remain in Scotland beyond the summer.
