Talks between all parties moved quickly with both clubs keen to reach an agreement before Friday’s transfer deadline (30 August).
The defensive midfielder will carry out medical checks before putting the finishing touches on a deal which could be announced within 24 hours.
Scott Parker made signing a new defensive midfielder a priority in the closing stages of the window after losing Sander Berge to Fulham.
Laurent has been at Stoke since making the move from Reading in 2022 and established himself as a key player in the side.
He has made 80 appearances for the club in his two-year spell, scoring eight goals and providing six assists from his deep midfield position.
After Berge moved to Premier League outfit Fulham in a deal worth £25million, the Clarets identified Laurent as a direct replacement in the closing stages.
With just one year remaining on his deal at the bet365 Stadium, Steven Schumacher’s side have opted to cash in on his exit rather than lose him for free next year.
