Luton Town player agrees transfer – Clubs need to reach agreement over fee
According to a claim in the French media, Torino are looking to get a deal done for Luton Town defender Teden Mengi.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Championship side this summer after reports of interest from Torino, along with French sides.
Footmercato have reported on the latest developments regarding the future of the Luton Town man, and they say Torino are concrete in the chase.
It’s claimed Mengi has agreed to sign for the Italian side and now they just need to get an agreement with Luton Town. Talks are expected to continue between the two clubs as they look reach common-ground on the transfer fee.Lens and Nice have also been targeting the former Manchester United player in recent weeks as both Ligue 1 sides looked to bring him in as replacement for players being sold.
Mengi made 35 appearances for the Hatters last season, scoring one goal. He only joined the club from Manchester United last summer, on a long-term contract.
No winner was forthcoming in 90 minutes for either side, which saw both goals scored in the first half after Luton’s Zack Nelson cancelled out an opener scored by QPR’s Hevertton Santos.
But in the shoot-out, Luton duo Cauley Woodrow and Tahith Chong failed to score their kicks, allowing their Championship rivals and upcoming league opponents to progress to Round Three.
Luton had been given a bye in the First Round of the competition and named a strong side for the trip to West London as they chased a first win of the new season.
But Rob Edwards’ team fell behind after 11 minutes, as Brazilian full-back Santos scored the rebound after Thomas Kaminski could only parry an effort by Elijah Dixon-Bonner.
