According to the Daily Mail, Reo Hatate has been alerted that he won’t be allowed to leave Celtic Park this summer despite a £10m bid from an unnamed Ligue 1 club this week.
Hailed as a ‘phenomenal’ player, the Japanese international has started the new Scottish Premiership season in fine form with two goals in three games, with the 26-year-old already looking like a readymade replacement for O’Riley.
And with the Danish international now gone, it makes sense why Celtic have put their foot down on Hatate leaving in the final days of the transfer window, with a top-quality replacement unlikely to be found in time.
Indeed, Hatate’s early season form has been incredibly encouraging for Celtic this campaign, and the Hoops could be making a good decision in demanding the Japanese international to stay in Glasgow until the January window.
