Coventry City were able to hold onto their biggest assets this summer after seeing some key players move on in the summer of 2023.
Callum O’Hare will go down as a notable loss, moving to Sheffield United upon the expiry of his deal. However, in comparison to the big money exits of Gustavo Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres last year, this summer has been a far more successful one on that front.
Among the star man who perhaps could have earned exits are Ben Sheaf and Milan van Ewijk. Both remain on the books though, despite eye-catching interest.
In the case of right-back van Ewijk, the likes of Dutch giants Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord were keen on prising him away from Coventry City, according to reports. All three are sizeable clubs with big fanbases who can offer European football.
However, despite acknowledging the interest is nice to know of, van Ewijk is focused on nothing but life at the CBS Arena.
As quoted by Coventry Live, the 23-year-old said that if anything serious was to happen, he’d be informed by his agents or higher ups at Coventry City. Until then, all his energy is being put into his game. Van Ewijk said:
Coventry City have some big assets on the books and as long as they’re performing, they’re going to draw attention from elsewhere. Van Ewijk is among those star players, and it seems inevitable that the Sky Blues will really have their resolve tested in the future.
That hasn’t come just yet it seems, with van Ewijk unaware of anything serious on the transfer front.
