US media blasts 3/10 Brenden Aaronson after what Leeds United star did v Canada
Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson has been slammed by USA media after his performance against Canada on Saturday 7 September.
The Whites midfielder started the friendly clash in Kansas City as Jesse March’s Canada secured a 2-1 win over the USMNT.
The 23-year-old’s showing wasn’t looked upon favourably with Soccer America rating him a 3/10.
Goal.com couldn’t pick out many positive aspects of the Leeds star’s performance during the night when discussing his performance.
They said: “Just didn’t really do much of anything. He wasn’t bad, particularly compared to some of his teammates, but he didn’t make many positive things happen, either.”
The former Union Berlin loanee was also criticised by NBC Sport who rated him 4.5/10 on the night.
Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson slammed for USMNT showing
The ex-RB Salzburg star has returned to Elland Road after a loan spell at Union Berlin last season and has already had a positive impact in the Championship.
Some sections of supporters were unhappy with the America international which saw him and Max Wober jeered in preseason.
After the sales of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, Aaronson is likely to feature more regularly moving forward in the second tier.
Daniel Farke will have to put some trust in the 23-year-old given that he is a more natural number ten option than the other options available to him.
The attacking midfielder didn’t take the chance to impress and will be looking forward to a friendly against New Zealand on Wednesday (11 September).
He will be hoping that he can rectify his poorly rated showing with a better performance against the Kiwis ahead of a return to Elland Road.
