Sunderland return to Championship action against Plymouth Argyle next weekend
Sunderland travel to Plymouth Argyle next Saturday hoping to continue their perfect start to the campaign under Regis Le Bris.
Here’s the early team and injury news for both sides…

1. Dan Neil (available)
Neil has served his one-match suspension and will come straight back into the squad. Le Bris has a big decision to make after his midfield performed so well at Portsmouth but Neil is team captain, the best passer in the squad and will likely be back in the XI. Photo: Frank Rei
2. Aji Alese (out)
Alese will be absent for around twelve weeks after picking up an ankle injury in training last week. A huge blow for player and club after an excellent start to the campaign. | Ian Horrocks

3. Freddie Issaka (out)
The young forward impressed Wayne Rooney during pre-season but is serving a three-match suspension after picking up a red card during a 2-2 draw with QPR – a match Plymouth finished with nine. This is the last game of his suspension. | Getty Images

4. Rami Al Hajj (could debut)
Al Hajj joined from Odense on deadline day. A key target for Argyle, Wayne Rooney believes he can add goals and creativity from the number ten position. Wasn’t registered in time to face Stoke City before the international break so will likely debut here. | Getty Photo: Dan Mullan
9. Jenson Seelt (out)
Recovering well from a major knee injury but isn’t expected back in action until January.

The pair will be available to face Plymouth but not yet clear if they’ll come straight into the squad. Aleksic is currently on international duty and so will have had very little time to settle and train with his new team mates.
