Agent says Iraola and Pinto key in player choosing Bournemouth – Tactical approach important
Dean Huijsen’s move to Bournemouth has caught attention throughout the European transfer media, after so many clubs were linked with the Spain youth international.
The Dutch born defender arrived in a permanent transfer from Juventus, who had loaned the defender out to AS Roma, where he was able to show glimpses of his quality.
Huijsen has started his journey at Bournemouth well, fitting into Andoni Iraola’s system in an efficient manner. It seems as if the Spaniard’s tactical approach is a key reason the defender chose the Cherries as his destination.
That has been revealed by Andrea Pellegatti, who is an intermediary at Epic Sports (the agency that represents Huijsen) and played a key role in Bournemouth signing the teenager.
He told Radio Sportiva, as relayed by TMW: “We worked as intermediaries in the deal, Bournemouth’s playing philosophy was certainly decisive. In a physical league, he tries to play with quality, to start from the back and Huijsen excels there.”
Pellegatti went on to state that the club’s new sporting director Tiago Pinto was also key in making the deal possible, having previously signed Huijsen at Roma.“Coach Iraola plays this type of game and certainly helped the player in accepting the technical project, without forgetting the role of Tiago Pinto who had crossed paths with the player in Rome.
“The chance to have a context consistent with the player, age, championship and level were factors that contributed to the success.”
The teenager has already featured in two Premier League games for the Cherries, starting the game against Nottingham Forest.
He’s already shown that he fits into Iraola’s style and over time, it won’t be a surprise to see Huijsen become a regular at Bournemouth.
