Tottenham Hotspur are already planning for the January transfer window.
The summer window has only just closed but Tottenham chiefs are already identifying targets for the winter.
Their midfield ranks are pretty well stocked, especially after the additions of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, however, they now have a number six on their radar.
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Lille and England midfielder Angel Gomes.
Gomes made his England debut for Lee Carsley’s side this month and many were impressed with his displays.
Newcastle United and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, who is out of contract next year.
The Magpies appear to be the most serious buyers at this stage, as they’re weighing up making a bid in Janaury.
The former Manchester United wonderkid isn’t planning on extending his contract at Lille.
Gomes, who was always ‘destined to reach the top’ per the Mirror, caught the eye during in the international break with Roy Keane particularly impressed.
“You know what, the first you thing you look at was he looked comfortable out there,” Keane said on ITV.
“Obviously, the game, you could say it was dead and buried, but he looked comfortable out on the pitch.
“He looked comfortable in possession, he looked like he belonged out there, he’s had to go away and leave Manchester United, a big club, to go out for experience and get regular football.”
Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal lock horns in one of the biggest fixtures in the English calendar this Sunday.
Meanwhile, Arsenal failed to win against Brighton before the international break, and they’re also in the midst of a personnel crisis in midfield.
With that in mind, both Spurs and Arsenal will be desperate to win in order to stabilise their seasons, along with the obvious bragging rights.
Tottenham could’ve easily won all three of their Premier League games so far this season, but a lack of cutting edge and issues at the back means they’ve got just four points.
